I was delighted to return to working with visual artist and director Naomi Parker this autumn, composing the original score for LightFall, a walkabout performance commissioned for Bradford’s BD:is LIT light festival.
Set around the Mirror Pool in City Park, the piece featured two luminous performers drifting through the public space as my new, synth-based soundtrack played across the installation. Designed as a calm, immersive counterpoint to the festival’s bright city-centre energy, the work blended ambient textures with slow, melodic themes to enhance the gentle choreography of the performers and the reflective environment of the Pool itself.
It was a joy to hear months of studio composing finally meet its audience in the open air — and to be part of such a striking, family-friendly addition to Bradford’s flagship winter arts festival.
