“A dramatic and mythical glam-rock offering…recalling the majesty of Queen, Deep Purple, Rush and Led Zeppelin.”

— Lorne Behrman, Guitar World

The L☿rds Of MisRule

A glorious accident with eyeliner and teeth

Based in Yorkshire

Formed 2024

Debut EP: Mid Vice Crisis

About the Band

The Lords Of MisRule are a new, theatrical glam-rock band conjured from the mind of songwriter and frontman Dan McGlade, with guitarist and long time collaborator Mike Ward, backed by a handpicked ensemble of musicians from across the Yorkshire scene. Together they create something greater than the sum of their glittering, swaggering, riff-laden parts.

Blending the majestic bombast of Queen, the swagger of Deep Purple, and the twisted lyrical deviance of Oscar Wilde, The Lords Of MisRule inhabit a vivid sonic world filled with mythical anti-heroes, Southern Gothic shadows, and raucous redemption arcs.

This is rock music with a dramatic bent — loud, literate, and laced with irony.
Fans of theatrical flair, storytelling, and overdressing will feel right at home.

Who Are They?

Rascals, the lot of them

What started as a humble solo project became something else entirely. Dan McGlade thought he was just making a record—but after receiving an Arts Council England grant for his debut solo EP Mid Vice Crisis, things began to… mutate.

As he brought in musicians for live shows, something unexpected happened. New ideas began to tumble in. Lightning flashed. A glorious, collaborative monster reared its head. And Dan realised the truth: this wasn’t a solo project anymore. This was a band. A fantastic, riotous, gloriously theatrical band.

At the creative core are Dan and guitarist Mike Ward—long-time friends and musical allies since their days in the Leeds band Captain Wilberforce. Their complementary skills and shared love of rock’n’roll have always threatened to boil over into something new. Mid Vice Crisis was the spark.

To bring that sound to life on stage, Dan and Mike handpicked a killer line-up of full-time musicians for their Saltaire Festival main stage debut:

Kit Marsden – Keyboards: In-demand session player for international touring acts

Harvey Brown – Drums: Session drummer and drum tutor with thunder in his hands

Alex Greatrex – Bass Guitar: Guitar and bass teacher with impeccable groove

Together, they are The Lords Of MisRule: a band forged by accident, raised by art-rock wolves, and unleashed with maximum glam and minimum restraint.
