Fakespeare
In February & March 2026 I composed the music Merely Player's production of Fakespeare by Stuart Fortey — a witty, playful and unexpectedly moving theatrical production exploring the life and legacy of Shakespeare through a thoroughly modern lens.
The score combined acoustic and cinematic elements with songs and thematic material designed to support the production’s shifting balance of comedy, reflection and theatrical mischief.
One of the great pleasures of the project was finally sitting in the audience on opening night at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, prior to UK Northern tour, watching ideas that had previously existed only in notebooks and hard drives suddenly come to life on stage.

Let Me Tell You A Story
In 2024 Dan worked with Liberty Arts and Falling Stars Theatre on Let Me Tell You A Story — a creative festival for over-60s audiences and participants held in Keighley.
Working as resident composer and musical director alongside Louise Hodgson and Beccy Durham, Dan collaborated with participants to develop music inspired by personal stories, memories and shared experiences, helping shape performances that celebrated creativity, connection and storytelling across generations.

LightFall (BD:is LIT festival)
In October & November 2025 I collaborated with Naomi Parker and Chicks On Sticks to create a starry, synth-soaked soundtrack for LightFall, part of Bradford’s BD:is LIT light festival (7–8 November).
The walkabout performance, inspired by the Bradford's Mirror Pool featured two luminous figures gliding through City Park at night time to my music.

In Spring/Summer 2025 I composed and recorded the music for a stunning walkabout act which brought to life the statues from the parks of Bradford and Keighley, designed and made by artists Naomi Parker and Rachel Hyde - director of stilt walking company Chicks on Sticks.
In addition to a promenade theme for the performers to more to, I composed individual themes for costumed characters inspired by Lister Park’s bronze stag, Bowling Park’s wooden bear and the procession leader...a drumming squirrel!
STATUESQUE is part of The Beacon Tour, which itself formed part of Bradford City of Culture 2025

Crime & punishment
In January & February 2023 I worked as Musical Director and Composer In Situ, alongside multi-award winning storyteller, director, performer & writer Debs Newbold, on Chris Hannon's Crime & Punishment.
This exciting, fresh and accessible adaptation of Dostoyevsky's masterful novel, was performed by final year students from Leeds Conservatoire, and performed in Chapel FM, Leeds.

TWELFTH NIGHT / MACBETH
In September/October 2022 I wrote the songs and music for two Leeds Playhouse / Leeds Conservatoire co-productions - Macbeth and Twelfth Night.
Each production demanded wildly different musical styles and sonic palettes, integrating original acoustic and electronic recorded music with acoustic arrangements performed live by actor-musicians.
