I’m currently composing the original score for Fakespeare, a new theatre production written and directed by Stuart Fortey.
The play switches between the 15th and 18th centuries, offering an exciting musical challenge that allows me to explore the contrasting styles, textures, and traditions of two very different historical periods. Researching and incorporating these influences into contemporary theatrical scoring is one of the parts of composing I enjoy most — each project becomes an opportunity for musical discovery as well as storytelling.
Fakespeare opens on 28 February at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, before touring to venues in:
Leeds
Helmsley
Otley
Leyburn
Beverley
Burton-upon-Humber
Further updates about the production and performances will follow as the premiere approaches.
